I have played the bagpipes for 40 years. Over time, my interests have veered from the competitive side of things to the study and performance of traditional music. I currently have an active interest in Piobaireachd (Ancient Scottish bagpipe music) and Scottish traditional pub style music. Visit my Smallpipes page for more examples.
During my pipe band years I played for Grade 2 House of Scotland, Grade 2 Portland Metro and Grade 2 Cameron Highlanders and won numerous prizes for solo and band competitions including overall amateur solo Piobaireachd winner, WUSPBA and BCPBA Grade 2 band championships, and the Campbell J. Naismith trophy.
For anyone interested in geeking out - I play a set of Cocus Henderson bagpipes with casein mounts (casein is a milk-based plastic from long ago, closely related to Elmers glue). I also play Keith Jeffers Cocobolo bagpipes. I have a set of Hamish Moore Smallpipes in A. For more information about these makers visit here.
