MacPhee Bagpipes - DC Mathers personal bagpipe - SOLD

An extremely rare bagpipe owned by the noted prize winner and composer DC Mathers. This bagpipe is in very good condition but due to it’s age I would be hesitant to make this an everyday playing bagpipe. Unfortunately the ebony is prone to crack so this bagpipe must be babied for it to live another 150 years. Interestingly the metalwork is etched brass with silver plating: exquisite work that’s for sure. Hemp stops and slides added by Murray Huggins. He also repaired cracks and replaced the bass mid-joint that had cracked.

This bagpipe is extremely stable and the ebony gives it a wonderful tone.
